How the Hydrogen and Methane breath test will benefit your patients and your practice!

New Video Added to the Video Links section (below).

Bloating, gas and pain may not be irritable bowel syndrome. A simple breath test will help doctors diagnose SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth). Dr. John Corless of Roper St. Francis talks about this problem that’s more common than you think.

QuinTron has partnered with EndoNurse Magazine to publish an educational eBook on Breath-Testing for nurses and technicians to help continue their knowledge of breath testing and QuinTron's products. Please visit this link to sign-up and download the eBook. It's FREE!!! www.endonurse.com/ebooks

Digestive Health: IBS, Aired on Lifetime Television, October 19 and November 30, 2008 Show 522:

Dr. Mark Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center discusses how doctors can use a simple breath test to check for the presence of certain gases in the gut using QuinTron products and treat Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth.
-----------------------------------------------------
Breath tests are invaluable in helping evaluate functional bloating, diarrhea, constipation and suspected malabsorption. These tests are simple and safe alternatives compared to more invasive procedures such as biopsies and/or obtaining aspirates for culturing. Hydrogen breath tests aids in the diagnosis of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) which provides a framework for understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) patients. The types of gas produced by bacteria in the digestive tract are an important factor in this understanding. Recent work demonstrates that among IBS subjects, methane produced during lactulose breath testing is associated with constipation predominance both subjectively and objectively. (Am J Gastroenterol 2007;102:1-5) QuinTron is the only manufacturer of breath-testing instrumentation to offer the ability to measure both hydrogen and methane in a single sample of breath (alveolar air), which adds reliability to the breath test and properly diagnosing patients.
